On Tuesday 28th September 2010 Leek Town Footballers took to their Harrison Park pitch in
nothing but their underwear as part of a campaign for musicMagpie. This could be the very
event that has helped Leek Town players re-focus and improve team morale. From being the
team described as “lacking confi dence” by club bosses in recent weeks, to blatantly “dunking”
Grantham it seems that bearing “nearly” all for the camera has had a defi nite effect.
The team braved the cold and wolf whistles from amused local residents to appear in a series of
photographs to promote the website’s campaign, which will see anyone who sends them 500 old
CDs or DVDs receive a brand new, numbered football kit for 16 players.
Leek Town player Matt Johnson said, “All the lads were up for the challenge, the day
before we all went out and bought new boxer shorts so we looked our best on camera.”
Pictures of the players with their kit off will appear in a series of online advertisements and in a
full-page advert in sports magazine FourFourTwo which will be published on October 30th. If you
