{"id":10675,"date":"2019-03-08T12:16:45","date_gmt":"2019-03-08T12:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/?p=10675"},"modified":"2020-06-11T16:37:18","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T15:37:18","slug":"airbnb-acquire-hoteltonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicmagpie.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/03\/08\/airbnb-acquire-hoteltonight\/","title":{"rendered":"Airbnb acquire HotelTonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Room booking giant Airbnb have made a new acquisition, buying a last-minute hotel company, HotelTonight.<\/p>\n<p>The financial details of the deal have not been made, but HotelTonight were valued at $463 million in a private funding round in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>HotelTonight was founded in 2010, two years after Airbnb, as an app to find discounted hotel rooms in the Americas, Australia and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst Airbnb has long been seen as the anti-hotel room app, the acquisition comes as part of a wider strategy for the business. Not every kind of traveller is comfortable sleeping in a stranger&#8217;s home &#8211; by offering a hotel service too, Airbnb covers more bases and attracts more users.<\/p>\n<p>HotelTonight is just one app in a long list of acquisitions for Airbnb.
