Once your computer or MacBook has reached the end of its lifespan, the best thing you can do for the environment is to recycle it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s estimated that the average computer is replaced every 3-5 years, so it\u2019s easy to see how this waste can pile up! This is why it\u2019s so important to recycle responsibly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Electrical goods are the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. In 2021, around 57.4 million tonnes of e-waste was expected to be discarded worldwide, which would technically outweigh the Great Wall of China.<\/span><\/p>\n

The good news is that 93% of the elements in a computer can be recycled… But if a computer isn\u2019t recycled properly, toxic substances can end up in the air, land, and water.<\/span><\/p>\n

The average computer’s environmental effect<\/h2>\n

To build just one computer, 24kg of fuel, 22 kg of chemicals, and 1500 litres of water are needed. Imagine these numbers on a much larger scale; the demand for resources is outnumbering how much the earth can actually produce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
