The idea behind this rule was to help reduce e-waste by having a universal charger.<\/p>\n<p>Apple had until the end of 2024 to enforce this change, so it seems like they wanted to get a head start with the iPhone 15 launch rather than wait until 2025 to make the switch.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what\" style=\"text-align: center;\">What countries will be affected?<\/h2>\n<p>As the one-size-fits-all charging port regulation is an EU rule, it will predominantly affect EU countries and most countries in Europe. But since Apple is such a big player in the smartphone market, it\u2019s left non-Europeans wondering if they\u2019ll be affected.<\/p>\n<p>Judging by the iPhone 15&#8217;s new USB-C port, it seems Apple has made this switch permanent for all future iPhone models, including those sold in the US and elsewhere in Europe.
