You’re not alone. While they might not be the latest models on the market, both phones still pack plenty of flagship features – and often come at much friendlier prices. In this Samsung S23 vs S24 review, we’ll break down the key differences in design, performance, cameras and more to help you decide which Galaxy is the better fit for you!

In this blog:

Design and display

Performance

Camera

Battery life and charging

Final verdict

Design and display

The first thing you’ll notice in the S24 vs S23 specifications is a slightly bigger display on the S24. It features a 6.2-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, compared to the S23’s 6.1-inch display. Not a huge jump, but it does give a bit more space for streaming, scrolling and gaming.

Both phones weigh 167g, are wrapped in a tough armour aluminium frame, and feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 – although the Galaxy S24 has a newer Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. They’re also both IP68 water resistant, which means they can handle being submerged in 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes.

As for colours, the Samsung Galaxy S24 gets all the fun shades this time around: amber yellow, cobalt violet, marble grey, onyx black, sapphire blue and jade green. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 offers more classic options, such as green, phantom black, cream and lavender.

Verdict: If you want a slightly bigger screen and flashier colours, the Samsung Galaxy S24 has the edge.

Performance

Here’s where things get spicy in the Samsung S24 vs S23 debate.

The Samsung S23 packs the punchy Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor – a fan favourite for its speed and efficiency. The S24, on the other hand, features Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 chip. Storage-wise, both the S23 and the S24 offer 128GB, 256GB and 512GB options.

While both offer 8GB of RAM, the performance differences will depend on how you use your phone. For everyday users, you probably won’t notice a big difference. But if you’re gaming or multitasking like a pro, the Exynos 2400 chip in the S24 will offer a more premium performance.

Verdict: For raw power, the S24 might be the better pick.

Camera

Looking at the Samsung S23 vs S24 camera specs, you’ll see a very familiar setup:

12MP ultra-wide

50MP wide

10MP telephoto

12MP front camera

Both phones offer 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom, but the S24 adds 2x optical-quality zoom thanks to some clever software wizardry. It’s not a total camera revolution, but it’s a nice-to-have for zoom-happy photographers.

In day-to-day use, you’ll get crisp, colourful shots from both models, with great performance in low light.

Verdict: Too close to call – but if you’re zoom-obsessed, the S24 just about edges ahead.

Battery life and charging

The S23 features a 3900mAh battery, while the S24 bumps that up slightly to 4000mAh. Both support fast charging, so you won’t be chained to your charger for long.

The difference isn’t massive, but the newer chipset in the S24 may give it a slight edge in power efficiency.

Verdict: The S24 wins, but only by a whisker.

Final verdict

If you’re rocking the S23, the upgrade to the S24 probably isn’t essential unless you’re itching for a new look or those minor performance boosts.

But if you’re choosing between the two for your next phone and comparing the S23 vs S24 specifications, the newer colours, slightly larger screen and subtle camera upgrades make the S24 a solid choice.

That said, with the S23 often available at lower prices, it’s still a top-tier phone that offers serious value for money.

No matter which Galaxy you choose, you’re in for a stellar smartphone experience.

Ready to upgrade?
