{"id":2120,"date":"2014-11-06T14:47:27","date_gmt":"2014-11-06T14:47:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/?p=2120"},"modified":"2014-11-06T16:14:17","modified_gmt":"2014-11-06T16:14:17","slug":"the-surprisingly-easy-guide-to-christopher-nolans-interstellar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicmagpie.co.uk\/blog\/2014\/11\/06\/the-surprisingly-easy-guide-to-christopher-nolans-interstellar\/","title":{"rendered":"The Surprisingly Easy Guide to Christopher Nolan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Interstellar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Interstellar<\/i> is the new film from Christopher Nolan, the director of the <i>The Dark Knight Trilogy<\/i> and <i>Inception<\/i>, and it looks absolutely incredible.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0vxOhd4qlnA\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With the film set for release tomorrow, here\u2019s everything you need to know.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>What is Interstellar about?<b> <\/b><\/h4>\n<p>There is a lot of mystery surrounding <em>Interstellar&#8217;s <\/em>plot, but it basically boils down to this: the Earth can no longer sustain the human race, and a group of astronauts are sent to travel through a recently-discovered wormhole and find us all a new home in the stars.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Who\u2019s in it?<\/h4>\n<p>A better question might be <i>who isn\u2019t in it<\/i>? <i>Interstellar<\/i> has one of the strongest casts we\u2019ve seen for a long time, with loads of A-list actors taking on roles.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew McConaughey plays the lead role, an astronaut called Cooper, while Anne Hathaway and David Gyasi play fellow space-explorers Brand and Romilly.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the impressive cast includes Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow and, of course, frequent Nolan collaborator Michael Caine.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Will it be any good?<\/h4>\n<p>A very good question, and one that we can\u2019t actually answer. In fact, no-one apart from the film\u2019s crew can answer that question, and we\u2019re pretty sure we know what their answer would be. That said, we do know what the film is going to be like, which should give you some idea of whether it\u2019s going to be your cup of tea or not.<\/p>\n<p>Nolan has cited <i>Star Wars<\/i> and <i>Blade Runner<\/i> as major influences on the film, as well as Stanley Kubrick\u2019s <i>2001: A Space Odyssey<\/i>, which means <i>Interstellar <\/i>should be a must-see for sci-fi fans.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t be put off if you aren\u2019t that into sci-fi though. Despite covering some quite weighty scientific subject matter\u00a0 \u201d\u201c\u00a0 it draws heavily on physicist Kip Throne\u2019s theories on wormholes, which are recommended reading if you fancy feeling more confused than you\u2019ve ever been about anything\u00a0 &#8211; Nolan has compared <i>Interstellar <\/i>to \u201d\u02dcthe blockbusters I grew up with as a kid\u2019, which suggests that the focus will be on human relationships and big action set-pieces.<\/p>\n<p>One thing we can guarantee you\u2019ll get from watching <i>Interstellar<\/i> is a numb bum, as its 169 minutes long!
