Unfortunately, she didn\u2019t quite make it and ended up knocking Hutcherson out cold.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A total of 1,746 tributes have died in the 75 editions of The Hunger Games.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Author Suzanne Collins was writing teen-friendly dramas long before <i>The Hunger Games<\/i>; she previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1056741\/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1\">wrote an episode of the Melissa Joan Hart classic <\/a><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm1056741\/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1\">Clarissa Explains It All<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sxs97RpkgmE\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The costume team on the first film had to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhcosmetics.com\/news\/face-makeup-tricks-how-tos\/fun-facts-about-hunger-games-costumes-and-cosmetics\">make 1,800 costumes for the extras playing the Capitol\u2019s residents<\/a>. Many of the extravagant costumes had to be handmade too!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><i>Catching Fire<\/i> was the first film with a female lead to top the annual US box office since 1973, when Linda Blair topped the chart with <i>The Exorcist<\/i>. For a film with a female hero, you have to look back to 1965\u2019s <i>The Sound of Music<\/i>; Katniss Everdeen is the most popular female hero since Maria von Trapp!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Ed Sheeran contributed three songs to the <i>Catching Fire<\/i> soundtrack. However, only 2 films have been released (by comparison, there have been 8 films in the chart-topping <em>Harry Potter<\/em> franchise).<\/p>\n<p>If both editions of <i>Mockingjay <\/i>make as much as <i>Catching Fire\u2019s<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/movies\/?id=catchingfire.htm\">$864,565,663 worldwide box office gross<\/a>, the franchise will have made $3,284,944,757 &#8211; making it the 12th biggest franchise ever, above massive franchises like <i>X-Men <\/i>(7 films), <i>Fast and The Furious<\/i> (7 films) and <i>Star Trek<\/i> (27 films).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Before Francis Lawrence took on the role of director for <i>Catching Fire<\/i> and <i>Mockingjay<\/i>, some big names were linked with the job. Among them were Alfonso Cuaron (who went on to win the Best Director Oscar for <i>Gravity<\/i>), Cary Fukunaga (who went on to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emmys.com\/video\/cary-fukunaga-wins-directing-drama-series\">win an Emmy for <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emmys.com\/video\/cary-fukunaga-wins-directing-drama-series\"><i>True Detective<\/i><\/a>), Joe Cornish (director of <i>Attack The Block<\/i> and one half of comedy duo Adam and Joe) and Duncan Jones (director of <i>Moon<\/i> and son of David Bowie).<\/p>\n<p>At one point, David Cronenberg &#8211; best known for body-horror flicks like <i>The Fly<\/i> and <i>Videodrome<\/i> &#8211; was up for the role too.
