Nowadays, lifelike graphics and vast worlds are a minimum standard.<\/p>\n<p>Believe or not, though, things are only going to get better &#8211; and pretty quickly too. Here are 5 innovations that will change gaming forever.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><b>Project Morpheus and Oculus Rift<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_WzpLtCw9r0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sony\u2019s virtual reality headset is set for release in 2016, as is the Oculus Rift, and both sound very exciting indeed. The VR headsets combine projected images and 3D audio to create an immersive experience that actually feels as though you\u2019re in the game you\u2019re playing. Essentially, you\u2019re transported to a different world &#8211; and you experience it as if you were really there.<\/p>\n<p>It sounds like something from a sci-fi movie, and there are still a few kinks that need to be ironed out, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techradar.com\/news\/gaming\/how-project-morpheus-unearthed-some-of-my-greatest-fears-1270775\">Morpheus has received rave reviews from the critics who\u2019ve tried it out so far<\/a> and the Rift is easily one of the most anticipated pieces of hardware ever.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><b>HoloLens<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QRQv74J7oSk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rather than following Sony into virtual reality, Microsoft are pursuing \u201d\u02dcaugmented reality\u2019 instead with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2015\/feb\/09\/hololens-microsoft-virtual-world-augmented-reality-\">HoloLens<\/a>. The headset overlays reality with objects that aren\u2019t really \u201d\u02dcthere\u2019; for example, you could be playing Minecraft and see the blocks and interact with them as if they were actually in your living room. Or, you could have space aliens running around your living room!<\/p>\n<p>Again, it sounds mind-bending but it\u2019s very real; Microsoft are even planning to roll it out across the whole Windows experience. We\u2019re most excited about HoloLens\u2019 gaming capability, though.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><b>Eye-tracking<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Produced by the same team behind Project Morpheus, <a href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2014\/05\/26\/eye-tracking-is-one-of-sonys-unnoticed-cool-game-technology-demos\/\">Sony\u2019s eye-tracking technology<\/a> will allow you to interact with games using your peepers; if you want to look right, you shift your eyeballs right as would in real life, and aiming a gun or directing a shot on goal is as simple as looking at your target and pressing a button.<\/p>\n<p>Sony\u2019s eye-tracking technology isn\u2019t likely to be released commercially for some time yet but it could be worked into Project Morpheus, making the PS4 the ultimate platform for virtual reality gaming.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><b>RoomAlive<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>RoomAlive is another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/articles\/2014-10-06-microsofts-roomalive-is-illumiroom-evolved\">augmented reality project from Microsoft<\/a>, except rather than using a headset to project images, it uses a Kinect to project images around your room. It\u2019s a slightly less personal version of virtual reality, basically.<\/p>\n<p>RoomAlive was unveiled a few months before HoloLens and not much has been revealed about it since, so it\u2019s unlikely to get a commercial release any time soon. It\u2019s a cool idea, though.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><b>Cloud gaming &amp; streaming<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Music has Spotify, movies and TV has Netflix &#8211; so why hasn\u2019t there been a successful game streaming service yet?<\/p>\n<p>Well, there are a number of financial and technical reasons but experts predict <a href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/2014\/11\/24\/cloud-gaming-could-reach-a-turning-point-in-2015-analyst-says\/\">2015 will be the year game streaming finally takes off<\/a>. As with Netflix, you\u2019d pay a monthly subscription fee and play games as and when you want. With the cost of packaging and distribution reduced, it should (in theory) reduce the cost of gaming significantly. It\u2019s probably not a good idea to <a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/sell-electronics\/trade-in-consoles\/sell-your-ps4-games-console\/\">sell PS4 games<\/a> just yet, though!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Are you looking forward to virtual reality?
