What is it? <\/b><\/h4>\n

Hotel My Phone lets you \u201d\u02dccheck into\u2019 a friend\u2019s phone when your phone dies, allowing you to receive and send texts and calls using your number on their device. Simply download the app – and encourage a few friends to join you – and you\u2019re all set.<\/p>\n

Why is it surprisingly easy? <\/b><\/h4>\n

As well as letting you make calls and send texts, Hotel My Phone pulls through your contacts too. Given that most people couldn\u2019t recite their best friend\u2019s phone number if someone put a gun to their head, this is an incredibly handy feature.<\/p>\n

\n

The best bit<\/b><\/h4>\n

You\u2019ll never have to worry about offending people by not replying again. It\u2019s particularly useful if your mum is the worrying type and presumes the worst when she can\u2019t get in touch with you too.<\/p>\n

Any reservations people may have about sharing their phone have been addressed too; the borrower can\u2019t view any communications from the lender and vice versa.<\/p>\n

\n

The downside<\/b><\/h4>\n

There are still quite a few bugs yet to be ironed out, although that\u2019s to be expected from a relatively new app from a small start-up. Still, some people will find it frustrating.<\/p>\n

While Hotel My Phone is free to download, there are some charges for making calls and sending texts (although receiving them is free). At the moment, it\u2019s an app best used for emergencies rather than frequent texting after your phone has died.<\/p>\n

Oh, and you won\u2019t be able to use the old \u201d\u02dcsorry, my phone died\u2019 excuse for not replying to people anymore either\u201d\u00a6<\/p>\n
