After helping reinvent Matthew McConaughey as a serious artist after years of subpar rom-coms, fellow romcom mainstays Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn will be hoping some of that dark and dreary <i>TD <\/i>magic leads to a few Emmys and Oscars on their mantelpieces.<\/p>\n<p>That got us to thinking: after McConaughey, McAdams and Vaughn, who can the team behind <i>True Detective <\/i>reinvent next? Here are a couple of suggestions &#8211; let&#8217;s make it happen, Nic Pizzolatto.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kogDkXSI_rY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b>Jim Carrey<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Alright, so everyone&#8217;s favourite rubber-faced Canadian has already had a stab at serious acting before (with mixed results: <i>Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind <\/i>was brilliant while <i>The Number 23&#8230;<\/i>well, wasn&#8217;t) but we\u2019ve got an idea that\u2019ll cement Carrey\u2019s reputation forever&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><b>The role: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>5 words: <i>Ace Ventura: True Pet Detective<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is simple: Carrey returns to the role of Ace Ventura after 20 years. However, Ace isn&#8217;t the Hawaiian shirt-loving funster we once knew; 20 years of grizzly pet detective work has turned him into a drunk Nietzsche-quoting nihilist who hates animals. But when a shadowy cult starts kidnapping dogs, our hero has to return to the field for one last job&#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6z5zbY-0QCA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b>Rob Schneider<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>According to IMDB, Rob Schneider\u2019s last appeared on our screens in <i>Back to the Jurassic<\/i>, an animated dinosaur film also starring Melanie Griffith and a couple of the Baldwin brothers who aren\u2019t Alec.<\/p>\n<p>In short, things aren\u2019t what they used to be in Schneider land&#8230;but we think we\u2019ve got just the role for him\u201d\u00a6<\/p>\n<p><b>The role: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (Who is Actually A True Detective) <\/i>sees Schneider return to his most famous role. Except this time, Deuce is working Vice for the LAPD. Watch the viewing figures go through the roof!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_eD8RhPDU5Y\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b>Jim Parsons <\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Jim Parsons is best known as Sheldon Cooper from<i> The Big Bang Theory<\/i>, a scientist who struggles to interact with other people and has a ridiculously high opinion of himself. Sounds like the beginning of a baddie to us\u201d\u00a6<\/p>\n<p><b>The role: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>In <i>The Big Bang True Detective Theory<\/i>, Parsons stars as a mad scientist who conducts experiments on pretty young actresses. It\u2019s up to the bloke who plays Leonard to track him down &#8211; \u00a0but will a chronic addiction to videogames and comic books hinder his investigation?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/np-ndDy9YJ0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><b>Russell Brand<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The comedian-turned-protester <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/3am\/celebrity-news\/russell-brand-resigns-politics-gives-5661206\">recently turned his back on politics<\/a>, which means he\u2019s all freed up to take on new roles. Perhaps something a little darker than usual might appeal\u201d\u00a6<\/p>\n<p><b>The role: <\/b>Given Russell\u2019s penchant for fancy clothes and floral language, <i>Truey Detectivey: What\u2019s In The Booky Wook? <\/i>will follow Russell as he works to solve a series of murders in Victorian London.
