This places the Pixel C firmly in the tablet-laptop hybrid market (the C stands for convertible), where it will face competition from Microsoft’s Surface range and Apple’s recently announced iPad Pro.

Although no UK release date or price ranges have been confirmed yet, the Pixel C is expected to go on sale in the US at $499 (£330) for the 32GB version and £599 (£396) for the 64GB version. The optional keyboard will cost $149 (£98).

Google is set to release a brand new tablet, the Pixel C.
