England shirts are everywhere. Lairy chants break out at random. We\u2019ve all had hair transplants in honour of Wayne Rooney.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, we haven\u2019t been able to play much actual football because the weather has been&#8230;well, British. Gareth Southgate has just sliced his penalty into the welcoming hands of a German and broken millions of hearts, including one belonging to a 6 year-old boy with a head full of dreams.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, that 6 year-old boy had a SNES and a copy of ISS Deluxe, so he went upstairs and destroyed the Germans 5 \u201d\u201c 0. Vengeance is mine, Germany!<\/p>\n<p>Back then, ISS Deluxe was the king of football gaming. Now, it\u2019s very dated&#8230;although it\u2019s worth firing up for the hilarious commentary. \u201cThat\u2019s a big kick!\u201d\u009d<\/p>\n<h3>FIFA 14<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sT7HVQ0NP9c\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even though it won\u2019t earn me any football hipster points, I reckon<em> FIFA 14<\/em> is the best football game ever made. It\u2019s so realistic that I feel out of breath playing it. The other day, I thought I could actually smell Ronaldo\u2019s overpowering aftershave as he breezed past another of my hapless defenders.<\/p>\n<p>The only real problem with <em>FIFA 14<\/em> is Ultimate Team. It\u2019s not a bad game mode, but I\u2019m going to have to consider selling organs to keep buying packs (alternatively, and more sensibly, <a title=\"sell your games\" href=\"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/entertainment\/trade-in-games\/\">sell your games<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Championship Manager 2001\/02<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/champ-manager.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-579\" alt=\"Champ Manager\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/champ-manager.png\" width=\"780\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.musicmagpie.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/champ-manager.png 780w, https:\/\/www.musicmagpie.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/champ-manager-300x230.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Championship Manager 2001\/02 <\/i>is slightly less in-depth than its newer relatives, but is still engrossing enough to destroy friendships and marriages in a wave of tactical heaven.<\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, <i>Championship Manager 2001\/02<\/i> is still being updated by <a title=\"members of the Champ Manager community\" href=\"https:\/\/www.champman0102.co.uk\/\">members of the <i>Champ Manager<\/i> community<\/a>, so you can play the game with the nation\u2019s current crop of overpaid divers. Hooray!<\/p>\n<h3>Sensible World of Soccer<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fVhb4XXMwXw\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sadly, sensible soccer isn\u2019t a variant of the beautiful game in which players are paid modest wages, drive Fiat Pandas and make sure they get to bed by 10pm at the latest.<\/p>\n<p>It is, however, one of the most influential football games ever made. The top-down gameplay is archaic, but the career mode and transfer market are still influencing football games over 20 years after the game was released.<\/p>\n<h3>Jumpers for Goalposts<\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"Jumpers for Goalposts\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mousebreaker.com\/games\/jumpersforgoalposts4\/playgame\"><i>Jumpers for Goalposts<\/i><\/a> takes every little boy\u2019s dream (no, not the Katy Perry one) and turns it into a game, as you take a non-league player to the World Cup final by scoring a series of ridiculous volleys.<\/p>\n<p>You also have to run your player\u2019s personal life, which sounds difficult, but mainly consists of buying nice things and dating lots of women (and buying them something nice when they get a bit stroppy \u201d\u201c it\u2019s not exactly <a title=\"The Female Eunuch\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Female_Eunuch\"><i>The Female Eunuch<\/i><\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Three Lions<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H-qetk3JcmY\" height=\"315\" width=\"420\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><i>Three Lions<\/i> is special for a couple of reasons: it\u2019s the only official England game ever released and, instead of featuring commentary, you could hear your teammates barking out orders and being rude to you.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from that, it was pretty rubbish. You could only score from a couple of angles and completing a pass was like kicking a medicine ball through a pool of superglue. Still, at least you could hear Paul Ince screaming at you when you blazed another shot over the bar.<\/p>\n<p>What is your favourite football game?
