Opening up with a creepy intro with some wonderful vocals, it builds into a full-on rocker before breaking down into an almost swaggering riff (not something you always associate with Radiohead).<\/p>\n<p>The title, if you were wondering, is taken from <em>1984 \u00ad<\/em>\u201d\u201c a suitable choice for a band whose music embraces paranoia at every turn.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jX-fDKWGbRs\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Idioteque<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Perhaps Radiohead\u2019s most \u201d\u02dcdance-y\u2019 track, <em>Idioteque <\/em>from <em>Kid A <\/em>showcases the increasing influence of intelligent dance music artists like Aphex Twin on the band at the time. It\u2019s possibly the only Radiohead track you could play at a rave.<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics are among the most analysed in the Radiohead back catalogue, despite some of them being drawn completely at random from a hat.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n5h0qHwNrHk\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Fake Plastic Trees<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Fake Plastic Trees,<\/em> the centrepiece of <em>The Bends<\/em> is a classic Radiohead weepie, with soaring choruses and falsetto abound. \u00a0Unlike later releases, it\u2019s hugely accessible too. You can imagine it as the closing song at a stadium gig!<\/p>\n<p><em>Fake Plastic Trees<\/em> owes a lot to Jeff Buckley, and not just in sound either. Whilst struggling with the song, the band took a break to go and see Buckley. When they returned \u00a0to the studio afterwards, Yorke sang the song twice and then broke down in tears.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3M_Gg1xAHE4\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Pyramid Song<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Amnesiac <\/em>is perhaps the least loved <em>Radiohead <\/em>record, but it contains one of their best ever songs.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pyramid Song <\/em>is a sprawling, angular epic, a twisted jazz ballad inspired by Egyptian mythology, Buddhism and Stephen Hawking\u2019s theories on time. A very Radiohead ballad, basically.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also one of the band\u2019s favourite songs, with guitarist Ed O\u2019Brien calling it \u201cthe best song we\u2019ve recorded\u201d\u009d back in 2001. It\u2019s hard to disagree.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sPLEbAVjiLA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Paranoid Android<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There\u2019s a strong argument to be made for <em>Paranoid Android<\/em>, taken from their seminal album <em>OK Computer, <\/em>being Radiohead\u2019s masterpiece.<\/p>\n<p>It captures every element of the band in one song: Thom Yorke\u2019s paranoia-laced delivery and lyrics, the ominous atmosphere, the complex acoustic passages and time signatures, and a fantastic riff that stands up there with <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em> in the \u201d\u02dclate song payoff\u2019 stakes.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve never listened to it, do it right now.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>What is your favourite Radiohead song?
