It\u2019s summer! The days are longer, the nights are warmer and the sun is shining…occasionally.<\/p>\n

Alright, so this summer has been a bit of a washout so far. But that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t soundtrack it with some awesome tunes. Here\u2019s what\u2019s coming out this month.<\/p>\n

\"Blink<\/a><\/p>\n

California \u201d\u201c Blink 182 (1st<\/sup> July)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

California <\/em>is the first Blink album since Tom Delonge left the band to write books<\/a> and help NASA hunt UFOs (apparently)<\/a>, with Alkaline Trio\u2019s Matt Skiba (no stranger to writing pop punk anthems himself) replacing him.<\/p>\n

Although hearing Blink without Tom is slightly <\/em>weird, California <\/em>is packed full of catchy tunes and the odd alt-rock brooder. It\u2019s one of their best albums to date, the sound of Blink grown up. Well worth a listen!<\/p>\n

\"bat<\/a><\/p>\n

The Bride \u201d\u201c Bat for Lashes (1st<\/sup> July)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The follow up to 2012\u2019s The Haunted Man <\/em>is a concept album about a bride-to-be who ends up going on a one-woman roadtrip after her groom is killed in a car crash on the way to a wedding.<\/p>\n

While the concept is undoubtedly depressing, the 12 tracks here are powerful and sometimes uplifting, with beautiful ballads abound.<\/p>\n

\"metronomy\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Summer 08 \u201d\u201c Metronomy (1st<\/sup> July)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Joe Mount\u2019s latest record is an upbeat funky record that was made for summer parties and late nights. Mount described it as \u201cthe most fun thing I\u2019ve done in a long time\u201d\u009d and it shows; it\u2019s full of danceable hits that will put a smile on your\u00a0lips\u00a0and a swing in your hips!<\/p>\n

\"Ellipsis<\/a><\/p>\n

Ellipsis \u201d\u201c Biffy Clyro (8th<\/sup> July)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Biffy Clyro are one of those rare rock bands who are popular with purists and the mainstream alike, and they\u2019ve managed to do it on their own terms too.<\/p>\n

Ellipsis<\/em>, Biffy\u2019s 7th<\/sup> album, features the usual combination of crunching riffs and huge singalong choruses, with a couple of ballads for good measure. The band described it as \u201cthe best record they\u2019ve ever made\u201d\u009d to NME; you don\u2019t have to wait long to find out if you agree.<\/p>\n

\"Nothing's<\/a><\/p>\n

Nothing\u2019s Real \u201d\u201c Shura (8th<\/sup> July)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nothing\u2019s Real <\/em>is the highly anticipated album by qsynthpop singer Shura, who caused a splash with her debut EP White Light <\/em>last year. Don\u2019t be surprised if she becomes one of the UK\u2019s biggest stars over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Wildflower \u201d\u201c The Avalanches (8th<\/sup> July)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Australian band\u2019s first album in 16 years, following the critically adored Since I Left You. <\/em>The band described the album as a \u201croad trip through a big, wide expansive country\u201d\u009d and sought to \u201ccapture that feeling of growing up\u201d\u009d.<\/p>\n

As such, this one is sunny and upbeat, with plenty of the samples the group are known for. There are a lot of collaborations too, with Father John Misty, MF Doom and Ariel Pink just a few of the names popping in for a verse or two.<\/p>\n

\"Cheetah<\/a><\/p>\n

Cheetah \u201d\u201c Aphex Twin (8th<\/sup> July)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

After his glorious return with 2014\u2019s Syro<\/em>, everyone\u2019s favourite creepy-faced electronic music extraordinaire is back with a new EP.<\/p>\n

Cheetah <\/em>consists of 7 tracks of IDM goodness, including the previously released CIRKLON3 <\/em>and CHEETAHT7b<\/em>. In the meantime, entertain yourself with the video for CIRKLON3, <\/em>directed by 12 year old Ryan Wyer<\/a> (who wasn\u2019t even alive when the last Aphex Twin video came out).<\/p>\n
