Rogue One<\/em>, the latest instalment in the\u00a0Star Wars <\/em>saga (not that we\u2019re complaining), hit cinemas next week. It follows the crew who bravely stole the plans for the Death Star, helping Luke and pals destroy it in A New Hope<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Rogue One <\/em>gang are unsung heroes in the Star Wars <\/em>universe, although they aren\u2019t the only ones. Here are five more brave souls who deserve much more credit for their actions…<\/p>\n

\n

Count Dooku\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/h4>\n

From the off, all signs point to Count Dooku being a right evil bloke: he has a red lightsaber, he wears black and he\u2019s played by Christopher Lee AKA the\u00a0actor you call when you need someone who looks evil yet powerful and noble (see: Dracula and Saruman).<\/p>\n

Some people reckon that Dooku isn\u2019t actually evil though. In fact, they think he was working as a double agent for the Sith<\/a>. The theory centres on a moment in Attack of the Clones<\/em> when the Count tells Obi-Wan that the Jedi are being manipulated from within.<\/p>\n

This eventually spurs Obi-Wan to investigate, which leads to him discovering Palpatine is up to no good. That in turn sets up the events that lead to Anakin turning to the dark side before his kids (AKA the heroes of the series) are born. If they were born after Anakin became Vader, they may not have made it and there would be no Star Wars <\/em>beyond the prequels.<\/p>\n

Oh, and he also trained Qui-Gonn Jinn, who in turn trained Obi-Wan. Cheers, Dooku!<\/p>\n

\n

Whoever designed the Death Star<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We imagine being commissioned to design a planet-destroying weapon for the Empire would be an honour for a galactic architect.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, whoever designed the Death Star decided to leave a gaping hole in it. Oh, and firing a single laser shot down that hole destroys the whole flippin\u2019 thing.<\/p>\n

Without this hilarious piece of incompetence, the Rebels probably wouldn\u2019t have succeeded in destroying Darth Vader\u2019s toy. Death Star architect, we salute you.<\/p>\n

\n

Jar Jar Binks<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Oh yes, we\u2019re going there. Despite being about as funny as sticking your head in a Sarlacc pit, Jar Jar Binks was a hugely important character in the prequels. In The Phantom Menace<\/em>, for example, he helps command an army in the defeat of the Trade Federation. Not too shabby for an idiot.<\/p>\n

However, JJB isn\u2019t an unsung hero… he\u2019s actually an unsung villain.<\/p>\n

According to this amazing theory<\/a>, Jar Jar Binks is an all-powerful entity who uses mind control to defeat his enemies, bend events to his will and, eventually, convince the Galactic Senate to sign over power to Palpatine, who goes on to establish the Empire and…well, we all know how that ends.<\/p>\n

In short, JJB is potentially the biggest villain in the entire Star Wars <\/em>universe.<\/p>\n

He also deserves some credit for inspiring those weird sticky tongue toys you used to get in packets of crisps that kids used to throw at each other in playgrounds.<\/p>\n

\n

Wedge Antilles<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Remember those Good Guy Greg memes from a few years ago? Where a friendly looking chap does amazing things and doesn\u2019t expect any kind of reward or recognition for his efforts?<\/p>\n

Wedge Antilles is the Good Guy Greg of Star Wars<\/em>. In A New Hope<\/em>, Wedge distracts Darth Vader so Luke can fire the shot that destroys the Death Star (and get all the credit). Then, in Return of the Jedi<\/em>, Wedge flies alongside Lando.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s the only pilot that survives both assaults on the Death Star but he gets pretty much zero recognition for his work. Here\u2019s to you, Wedge.<\/p>\n

\n

The Stormtrooper That Bangs His Head<\/strong><\/h4>\n

It\u2019s a classic moment in film history: a group of Stormtroopers burst into a room and, in the background, one of them bumps his head.<\/p>\n

This gaffe is arguably responsible for transforming the Stormtroopers from faceless goons into the weirdly loveable and largely hapless dopes we all know and love today.<\/p>\n
