{"id":792,"date":"2014-06-27T13:33:09","date_gmt":"2014-06-27T13:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.3.178\/?p=792"},"modified":"2015-01-06T11:05:51","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T11:05:51","slug":"playlist-musicmagpies-official-sounds-of-the-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.musicmagpie.co.uk\/blog\/2014\/06\/27\/playlist-musicmagpies-official-sounds-of-the-summer\/","title":{"rendered":"Playlist: musicMagpie\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s official sounds of the summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s summer, which means more or less everyone has packed away their moody music for the year (or sold it to us) and replaced it with lovely happy summer music.<\/p>\n<p>So, we thought we\u2019d have a bash at predicting the big summer hits of 2014.<\/p>\n<p>We can almost guarantee that you won\u2019t be able to escape these songs over the next couple of months, even if you take a plane to the other side of the world.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Sing \u201d\u201c Ed Sheeran<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tlYcUqEPN58\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Everyone\u2019s favourite pop-rapper is back and <i>Sing<\/i> (not a cover of the Travis song of the same name, sadly) promises to be a massive hit, with strong hits of summer hit behemoth Justin Timberlake throughout.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Wiggle \u201d\u201c Jason Derulo ft. Snoop Dogg<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hiP14ED28CA\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Jasoooooon Deruuuuuuuuulo (to give him his proper name) is one of those artists who isn\u2019t actually that good, but still manages to churn out more hits than a boxing match.<\/p>\n<p><i>Wiggle <\/i>is already taking over the airwaves, probably because it\u2019s the perfect mindless summer tune. Plus, it\u2019s taught us all what to do with our big fat butts.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Don\u2019t Stop \u201d\u201c 5 Seconds of Summer<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MKfzMOC19Fc\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Taking their name from the average amount of time summer lasts in Britain, these 4 Aussie pop-punk lads are the latest product of the boyband production line and, as such, have become absolutely huge.<\/p>\n<p><i>Don\u2019t Stop<\/i>, like One Direction\u2019s <i>What Makes You Beautiful, <\/i>is going to be this year\u2019s \u201d\u02dcsong I wish I didn\u2019t like but can\u2019t help it\u2019.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Happy \u201d\u201c Pharrell Williams<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/y6Sxv-sUYtM\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Hang on a minute; hasn\u2019t this been around for ages?<\/p>\n<p>Well, yeah, but it\u2019s still going strong. At the time of writing, <i>Happy<\/i> was at number 18 in the chart after 31 weeks, and is almost bound to see a resurgence on account of being all cheerful and sunny and that.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Summer \u201d\u201c Calvin Harris<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ebXbLfLACGM\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Of all the things you could call Calvin Harris, subtle isn\u2019t one of them. He\u2019s going all out for a big summer hit, using the subliminal trick of having the word in the song to trick people into buying the single. The big house beats would make this a hit without the added summer bonus, but it\u2019s an obvious #1.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Fancy \u201d\u201c Iggy Azalea<\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/O-zpOMYRi0w\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nThis tune\u2019s been around for a fair bit as well, but it\u2019s a bit of a belter and an obvious party hit for the summer. <i>Fancy <\/i>is hovering around the early 20s in the chart at the moment but it\u2019s worth bearing in mind that <i>Blurred Lines<\/i> was released in May last year and didn\u2019t peak until July.<\/p>\n<p>Good luck escaping those tunes this summer.
