What would it be?<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the question we recently asked millions of people of all ages across the UK. The results were surprising (and sometimes hilarious) to say the least!<\/p>\n<p>The song most people would take to their desert island is Queen\u2019s 8 minute epic <em>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>. Widely considered one of the best rock songs ever written, the track\u2019s heartbreaking balladry, legendary singalong bridge and headbanging riffs would be enough to keep anyone entertained.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fJ9rUzIMcZQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In second place is Simon and Garfunkel\u2019s <em>Bridge over Troubled Water<\/em>, which is ironically what a lot of people would like in a desert island setting (providing that bridge led back home). <em>Stayin\u2019 Alive <\/em>by the Bee Gees is third, proving that not even a life of solitude in the middle of nowhere is enough to dampen the British sense of humour.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oQwNN-0AgWc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the top five is <em>Hey Jude <\/em>by the Beatles (presumably for the singalong at the end) and <em>(Everything I Do) I Do It for You <\/em>by Bryan Adams.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Desert island discs: the top ten in full<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Bohemian Rhapsody <\/em>\u201d\u201c Queen<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Bridge over Troubled Water <\/em>\u201d\u201c Simon and Garfunkel<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Stayin\u2019 Alive \u201d\u201c<\/em> Bee Gees<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Hey Jude <\/em>\u201d\u201c The Beatles<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>(Everything I Do) I Do It for You \u201d\u201c <\/em>Bryan Adams<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Someone Like You <\/em>\u201d\u201c Adele<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Fernando <\/em>\u201d\u201c ABBA<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Thriller \u201d\u201c <\/em>Michael Jackson<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>I Will Survive <\/em>\u201d\u201c Gloria Gaynor<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Shape of You <\/em>\u201d\u201c Ed Sheeran<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, <em>Shape of You <\/em>was the top choice for both the 16 -24 (featuring in one of every four respondent\u2019s top ten) and 25 \u201d\u201c 34 age groups and was 2<sup>nd<\/sup> for 35 \u201d\u201c 44 year olds, but didn\u2019t feature at all in the older categories. By contrast, <em>Bohemian Rhapsody <\/em>\u201d\u201c the most popular song with 35- 44 year olds, 45 -55 year olds and those over 55 \u201d\u201c was ranked 6<sup>th<\/sup> by 16 -24 year olds and 4<sup>th<\/sup> by 25 \u201d\u201c 34 year olds.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the songs each age group would take to their desert island retreat:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>16 \u201d\u201c 24<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Shape of You \u201d\u201c <\/em>Ed Sheeran<\/li>\n<li><em>Take Me to Church <\/em>\u201d\u201c Hozier<\/li>\n<li><em>Love the Way You Lie \u201d\u201c <\/em>Eminem ft.
