Thinking of trading in your old iPhone for cash towards an upgraded model? It’s wise to remove all of your personal data before you send it in. Because let’s be honest - it’s a scary thought knowing someone else could get a hold of your personal info!

Should I remove the SIM card before selling my iPhone?

Yes. Your SIM card has your phone number and network on it. It can also hold information such as your call logs.

Not only does the next buyer not need this information, but by leaving your SIM card in your iPhone, you could risk exposing your personal information. At musicMagpie, our 90-point check system ensures your data is completely wiped. But for your own reassurance, we recommend removing your SIM before sending your phone to us.

There are so many features on our iPhones that use our personal information, such as Apple Pay, iTunes, iCloud and many more. To make sure your private information isn’t accessed by anyone once you have traded in your iPhone, we encourage customers to prepare your device for selling by wiping and resetting it beforehand.
