Travel 40,000 miles along forgotten back roads, through cycles of the season, and into a spectacular wilderness of towering mountains, rugged canyons, volcanic landscapes, petrified forests, sun-savaged deserts, and ancestral homes of the Apache, Hopi, and Navajo. Past and present play against one another in flashbacks to seminal moments in the author's personal and professional life which inexorably led to the decision to seek out the land of his birth as the autumn of his years closed in around him.
