This coursebook provides practice for students preparing for the GCSE examinations and is designed to cover and systematically revise the basic structures of the language. It also provides listening, reading and writing tasks required for the examination and gives practice in role-play.;It can be used in a class situation but the presentation also allows for a self-study approach.;The presentation dialogues and practice exercises focus on the essential structures, but as far as possible they are placed in a realistic context. They form the basis for the grammar and functional language sections which are exploited through exercises developing relevant skill areas.;Each unit also includes an "act it out" dialogue, putting the language to practical and relevant use. Every sixth unit is a revision unit providing realistic listening tasks recorded on an accompanying cassette. It is hoped that weak points can be isolated and that pupils can assess their own progress by use of this accompanying cassette, the reading material and diagnostic grammar tests provided in this section. Basic tenses and phrases are revised throughtout and there is an answer section for self-checking at the back of the book.
