Capcom Vs SNK 2 EO is now available on two home consoles and there's still no sign of a suitable control pad between them, although, admittedly, this Xbox version has a slight advantage over the GameCube and its superbly-designed-yet-utterly-redundant-where-2D-beat-em-ups-are-concerned controller.
Best off investing in an arcade stick, though.
On the upside, the game itself is proof of Capcom's continuing refinement of the series, offering the same great game design, along with a host of new features and improvements. With a character line-up of 44 fighters from two of the fighting series, CVS2 EO includes Capcom legends Ryu, Ken and Guile, and popular SNK fighters such as Joe Higashi, Kyosuke and Athena.
The game features six fighting styles known as grooves. The grooves affect how your 'supers' are built up, whether you can mid-air block, what recovery moves you can perform, and other various attributes your character has. You can choose an Alpha 3 style, a Garou: Mark of the Wolves groove, or a Street Fighter 3 style.
What is most notable about this release, however, is the game's on-line function.
Through Microsoft's new Xbox Live service you can hook up and face off against anyone in the world - arguably a great asset for this type of game.
