CITIZEN DOG is the story of a man and his dog. Or maybe it's the other way around - it's not always clear which one is in charge!
Average guy Mel has a new friend moving in, but the arrangement isn't working the way he had anticipated. He was expecting his new dog to be the loyal, trustworthy, man's-best-friend kind of housemate. Instead, Fergus is turning his world inside out.
Mel and Fergus are the ultimate odd couple of the comics page, two inseparable best friends who stumble through life together. They eat at the same table, share the same bed, and watch the same television shows. In the zany spirit of the infamous comedy teams of Laurel and Hardy and Abbott and Costello, cartoonist Mark O'Hare has created a twosome whose relationship goes way beyond owner and pet. Mel and Fergus work out their differences in a decidedly no-holds-barred way that's all too funny and familiar.
Before CITIZEN DOG was syndicated in 1995, Mark O'Hare was a director and storyboard artist for Nickelodeon's animated series, Rocko's Modern Life.
