Kudos, Tammy, on your first book! Tammy Hildebrand is a crochet designer and the vice president of the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA). Many of her designs are not new to many of you. They have been published in Interweave Crochet, Crochet!, Crochet World, Crochet 1, 2, 3 and in the bookUnexpected Afghans, as well as for many other publications. Tammy has designs in the collections of many yarn manufacturers and distributors, and shows her best and brightest designs in this book.

The 18 original patterns featured here are shown in six traditional techniques, which include traditional crochet, broomstick lace, hairpin lace, and Tunisian crochet. What makes this a special book is the way Tammy makes each pattern look like it just came off a fashion runway. Each wrap is versatile and stylish, from dressy to casual. An explanation of each technique (with a little history included) is well written, and step-by-step photo tutorials are offered before you begin any pattern. There are three patterns shown for each technique, making this a perfect book for all levels.

Tammy has included designs in hairpin and broomstick that are worked in the round. The instructions are clear and concise, and recommendations are made for different yarns, edges, and even different ways to wear the garments. With ponchos, shawl, and ruanas, there is a wrap sure to please everyone.

My personal favorite is the Purple Passion shawl, which if made smaller could be a scarf, on page 5. The Irish Jig pattern, made using hairpin lace, looks like a knitted dropped stitch pattern. Cleverly shown either as a shawl or over a skirt, this is a must-have accessory.

This book includes 18 patterns using 6 different crochet techniques with patterns ranging from easy to experienced. Whether you are new or have been crocheting for years, you will find something of interest in this book. The 6 different techniques are traditional crochet, motifs, hairpin lace, broomstick lace, Tunisian crochet and double-ended crochet. I am very anxious to work one of the Tunisian and double ended crochet patterns! She also includes a photo tutorial at the back of the book to help you with the various stitch techniques. I love that all of the designs are very unique! There are light weight, lacy wraps as well as warm, cozy shawls. Such a great variety! Another thing that I love is the pattern index at the back of the book. It's something so simple, but it really makes it easier when I am deciding on my next project.

Tammy's book covers six different crochet techniques: traditional crochet, motifs, hairpin lace, broomstick lace, Tunisian crochet, and double-ended crochet. Each technique features three patterns: one easy, one intermediate, and one advanced. Whether you're new to crochet or new to a particular technique, you can make each project for that technique, expanding your skills and knowledge with each new project. If you're just a fan of wraps and shawls, you are going to find a wide variety of styles to pique your interest. Whether you like warm and cozy ponchos or delicate lacy shawls, you'll find something to please. Some wraps are shown in a single color while others are shown in a subtle blend of colors or a palette of bright, exciting colors. You'll also find a variety of shapes ranging from circular to rectangular to triangular in addition to capelet and poncho styles. Tammy's written instructions are very clear and easy to understand. Finished dimensions are provided for each wrap, but there are no schematics or symbol charts. Following the patterns is a section with nice detailed photo tutorials for every technique featured in the book. - See more at: http://crochetville.com/book-review-crochet-wraps-every-which-way/#sthash.WZphY3dg.dpuf
