James Foley directs this adaptation of John Grisham's novel. Former Ku Klux Klan member Sam Cayhall (Gene Hackman) has been on death row for nearly thirty years after pleading guilty to bombing a civil rights leader and killing his children. With just 28 days until his execution, Sam's grandson Adam Hall (Chris O'Donnell) takes on his case. Although Sam is unrepentant, Adam is convinced that he did not act alone in the bombing, and is determined to find out who his grandfather is protecting.
