Emeli Sand is an English-born Scottish recording artist and songwriter. In 2012 she was named Critics' Choice at the Brit Awards forOur Version of Events, which went on to become the biggest selling UK album in 2012- spending 7 consecutive weeks at number one in the UK album charts. Emeli Sand has written for a number of other artists, including Alicia Keys, Gabrielle, Leona Lewis, Alesha Dixon, and Cheryl Cole. She performed at both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games. In 2013 Sand won the Best British Female and Best British Album award at the Brits, and received two Ivor Novello Awards for her single Next To Me.
