In the world of sewing and quilting, a fat quarter is an 18 x 22 inch piece of fabric that's a constant part of a crafter's stash. Whether the fat quarters are picked up at a craft show or a fabric shop, they tend to multiply in supply because crafters grab them as keepsakes if the pattern catches their eye.
But, once the collection of fat quarters has piled up, what's a fun project to make with them?
Mary Beth Temple's new book, Fabulous Fat Quarter Aprons, offers a novel idea that taps into a booming cooking and lifestyle trend: turn fat quarters into stylish aprons and matching pot holders/oven mitts.
With more and more makers getting into the kitchen to cook and host, aprons are a thing.
They're functional and fun with a wink to the past.
In Fabulous Fat Quarter Aprons, any crafter's stash can become one of of 12 retro aprons for today's kitchen. Unlike any other fat quarter craft book, Fabulous Fat Quarter Aprons offers a clever project idea for the busy kitchen, a special holiday party, or that a special gift. Best of all, this handy guide is not only for the seasoned sewist. Due to the accessibility of the material and the ease of each project, a fat quarter apron offers an excellent starting point for any maker looking to join the ranks of the sewing community.
