Born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana in 1931, soul-jazz and hard bop tenor saxophonist Plas Johnson is most widely known as the sax soloist on Henry Mancini's 'The Pink Panther Theme'. Johnson recorded profusely both as a leader and with various different groups. Presented here are Johnson's two LPs as a leader for Capitol Records in their entireties: 'This Must Be the Plas!' and 'Mood for the Blues'. Two songs from a rare 1959 single, which appear here on CD for the first time ever, have been added as a bonus.
