Anna Maxwell Martin, Claire Foy and Jodie Whittaker star in this BBC adaptation of Sarah Waters' historical novel. Set in 1940s London, the film follows the interconnected relationships of four characters during the Second World War. Helen (Foy) is in a turbulent relationship with Julia (Anna Wilson-Jones), while her assistant Viv (Whittaker) is having an affair with married soldier Reggie (Liam Garrigan). Meanwhile, Kay (Maxwell Martin), an ambulance driver, is struggling to rebuild her life in the aftermath of the war.
