'For a first album Seasons of Love is quite astonishing. It's rounded, mature, full of passion and it is pure jazz. A great way to start what I think will be a very successful career in the hard world of jazz and Beverley get's a well deserved UKJazzRadio 5 Star rating!' Brian Soundy UKJazzRadio 3 from 3 Review Show. 'I spent a lot of time thinking about what songs to sing on this album. I had the idea of creating a sort of fictional love story told through both the lyrics and melodies of the songs themselves, with the thought that the journey of love can be a little bit like the seasons, the Spring of love, the Summer of love and so forth,' Beverley says. As a result there is a strong dynamic and context to the album and great song choices from Standards to some incredible interpretations from other genres. 'One of the things I've always loved doing is taking songs from different genres and playing with them. Jazz is my genre, I love it, but to give a song the 'Jazz' treatment is a huge responsibility whilst trying to maintain respect for the original song which is very important to me. One of the songs which I hope shows this is my interpretation of 'Something Good' a lovely song from The Sound of Music. It's such a joy to discover new adventures within the melodic structures of a song, it can give it a completely different meaning just to slow it down, which is what I did originally with Walk On By. It developed again during the arranging and it's now one of my favourite songs on the album, although 'they're all my favourite's' as Bruce Forsyth would say!' Beverley's interpretation of 'Walk on By' on the album is turning out to be a big hit, one of many on this album. Brian Soundy from UKJazzRadio talks about Beverley's version: 'From the opening bars you're hooked. Although you've probably heard this song a million times, Beverley's deep rich tones have a sincerity and passion that is something special. Beverley is a real jazz singer! She interprets this song into one of the best versions I've ever heard. This is Beverley's strong point. From the first hearing of this CD Beverley's ability to bring a true jazz feeling into the mix was glaringly apparent.' 'Doesn't so much sing a song as live it' Anna Best (Writer) 'Elegant, effortless vocals, swinging backing musicians and looks a million dollars, what more do I want!' Gip Dammone, Salvo's (Restauranter and Jazz Promotor) Seasons of Love was also Covent Garden Radio's CD of the month in April.
