Miracle in the Andes - Nando Parrado

In October 1972, Nando Parrado flew from Uruguay to Chile with his team-mates from the Old Christians Rugby Club. Then disaster struck, as their plane crashed into a mountain. Miraculously, many of the passengers survived. Stranded at an altitude of 11,000 feet, with temperatures falling to -40C, the survivors realised that the search for them had been called off - and that the only food for miles around was the bodies of their dead friends... In desperation, Nando and a colleague set off in search of help, facing death at every step; seventy-two days after the crash, they saw a hill farmer - and the survivors were rescued. Nando's team camaraderie, the love for his family and his faith in God enabled him to overcome impossible odds and survive.
