In this mystery of almost unbearable suspense, the Archbishop of Paris has requested the services of everyone's favourite priest/ detective, Auxiliary Bishop Blackie Ryan, to help find the most popular priest in all of France. Friar Jean-Claude is not just a Dominican, but also a TV superstar who has become an idol to all of France - a country not known for adoration of the clergy. The Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago, Sean Cronin, orders our hero to Paris with his usual "See to it, Blackie." He then accompanies Blackie for a short holiday, along with his beautiful sister-in-law, Nora. Blackie not only has to find the missing priest but act as a chaperone to the Cardinal and his gorgeous companion. A beautiful young beggar girl becomes Blackie's translator and constant companion and together they find that not everyone is unhappy about the disappearance of Friar Jean-Claude. In fact, the hierarchy of the church is thrilled to be rid of him because he was getting too popular. Miracles have a way of following the man...and nothing embarrasses the church more than miracles.
