The coconut quins - Jan Mark

Zena hates to see Danny Carrick being picked on by the Coconut Quins. When she finds out that he lives above an ex-army supplies store she hopes this will make them leave him alone. The Quins are so impressed that they let Danny join them but there is a twist at the end of the story, for Zena begins to realise that Danny is not quite being honest when he says his dad owns the shop.

Jan Mark is one of the most highly regarded and successful children's authors. She grew up in Kent, attended Canterbury College of Art and went on to teach in Gravesend. She spent two years as writer-in-residence at Oxford Polytechnic and still lives in Oxford. Jan won the Carnegie Medal for her first book, THUNDER AND LIGHTNINGS.
