The Forgotten Wallet - Carley McAdam

Nick could not be more excited to have been invited to the cinema with his two new friend, but the nerves of hanging out with new people is starting to kick in too. Between the excitement and the nerves, Nick forgets to take his wallet with him. This is not the way he planned to make his first impression with his new friends.

"The Forgotten Wallet" is the second book in a series of multi-level, symbol supported stories aimed specifically at teenagers and young people with autism and learning difficulties. City Kicks books offer a unique opportunity for students of all levels to access the same stories, through the use of multi-level story telling and the incorporation of Widgit (c) symbols. City Kicks books allow young people who read traditional text, emergent readers and young people who don't currently read text to access the stories. City Kicks is a series bridging the gap for books and materials that are available to teenagers and young people with special needs.

Carley McAdam has a degree in Education and a degree in Creative Industries. As well as writing the City Kicks books series, she continues to work as a special education teacher. Carley worked in London in a special education school as the the literacy and guided reading co-ordinator and English teacher for 9 years, before moving back home to Australia. She now continues to teach special education with a specialty in autism in her home town of Brisbane. Throughout her time teaching Carley has gained insight into how to successfully adapt lessons and curriculum content to make it accessible to students with special needs, specifically students with autism.
