musicMagpie set out on a mission to discover the most sustainable cities in the UK. Based on the responses of 2,286 adults on all things sustainability, we found the results quite interesting indeed!

We looked at the nation’s best and worst eco-friendly habits, including factors like buying refurbished tech, recycling rates, methods of travel - and even the time spent in the shower!

What are the greenest cities in the UK?

 

The walled city of York took the highest overall score for sustainability. Here are the five greenest cities in the UK:

York came out top for zero plastic supermarkets and the most home-grown fruit and vegetables (72%) and Cardiff scored consistently high throughout the categories - including the proportion of those who buy refurbished tech (72%) and upcycle old household items (68%).
