Which iPhone is the best? Honestly, it depends on your intended purpose. You might not need to buy the latest iPhone to be on top of your smartphone game. With the release of the iPhone 11 all previous models have depreciated in price, but not in quality.
Our Facebook and Twitter polls revealed people weren’t really all about the iPhone 11 at all! But if you really want to see the features and benefits, we thought we’d compare it to the rest of the range to help you make an informed choice.
So whether you’re thinking of switching to the Apple iPhone or just wanting to upgrade, read through our guide and compare iPhone models below:

The iPhone 11 is a direct replacement of the iPhone XR, with a decent starting price too.
The iPhone 11 also contains the same A13 Bionic processor, making it as speedy as the top of the range iPhone 11 Pro Max. It contains two back of camera lenses (12-megapixel wide-angle and 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle), as well as a 12-megapixel front camera for excellent quality selfies.
Battery life is incredibly decent, boasting 11 hours, and fast charging is available at an extra cost, but worth it if you want to get back to streaming as soon as possible. Another perk of the iPhone 11 is its Ip68-rated water resistance, it can withstand about 30 minutes under a maximum of 2 meters underwater, but the XR could only withstand 1 meter, meaning it’s definitely worth getting if you’re liquid-accident prone.

A step up from the iPhone 11 sports a fantastic OLED screen instead of LCD, meaning brighter, clearer images with perfect balance of light and dark compared to the entry-level iPhone 11.
It has a 12-megapixel telephoto, 12-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel ultra-wide back-of-camera lenses and of course, a 12-megapixel front camera. Despite its significant upgrades, it measures in smaller than the iPhone 11 and Pro Max models at just 5.8 inches in screen size. It’s still a fantastic model if image quality is a significant factor in your decision, but you don’t want the hefty screen size.

People are super impressed by the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s Super Retina XDR display and 6.5-inch screen. Not only is the screen more life-like than ever, but it stands out from every other big-screen phone on the market. Its battery power is second to none in the iPhone range - lasting up to 11.5 hours! So binging on Netflix is easier than ever before.
By this point you might be wondering which iPhone has the best camera. Just like the iPhone 11 Pro, the iPhone 11 Pro Max sports 12-megapixel telephoto, 12-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel ultra-wide back-of-camera lenses, making it one of the best in the iPhone range, combined with its all-new Night Mode for low-light photography. Take awesome selfies with its matching 12-megapixel front camera and wow your social media followers!

The iPhone X’s successor. The iPhone XS is designed with slim bezels for a thinner feel, a dual-lens camera for a near-professional photography and a smaller screen size so you can use it one-handed. It’s fitted with a Dolby Vision-capable OLED Super Retina Screen, giving you the ultimate viewing experience a smartphone can provide.
It’s a fantastic mid-range smartphone if you don’t want to spend too much. It’s processing power is still pretty impressive due to its A12 Bionic chipset. This might not mean much to the average iPhone user, but essentially more transistors can be chucked into the CPU, which has two 'power' cores and four more that are optimized for maximum efficiency.

Much like the XS, the iPhone XS Max contains a Dolby Vision-capable OLED Super Retina Screen. But the XS Max is bigger, measuring a screen size of 6.5-inches and subsequently gives you the ultimate viewing experience from this range.
With a screen size so large it qualifies as a 'Phablet', Apple knew it needed a battery size to match. At a whopping 3,179mAH, you can enjoy up to 10 hours of uninterrupted streaming. So if you like the idea of a hefty handset with a large screen, 4GB RAM and lots of battery life, then the XS Max is definitely a fantastic choice.

The XR is one of the most impressive from the X series brought out in 2018. Not only is it cheaper, but the battery life is exponentially longer and it comes in a wider array of colours.
Whilst it’s classed as a “downgrade” from the XS - it still retains its most important features such as the powerful A12 Bionic chipset and iOS 12 and 6.1-inch LCD display is big, bright and colourful. It lacks the second sensor on its camera, meaning it doesn’t have the telephoto capabilities the X and XS have. If 3D Touch isn’t a necessity, then the XR makes a fantastic budget phone with strong capabilities for photos, browsing, streaming and more!

The iPhone X was the first phone to lose the home button and was a huge breakthrough in the Apple world. It comes with an OLED screen which really brings out deep tones, making websites and your photos look incredible.
It introduces the use of biometric authentication known as Face ID and is powered by Apple’s TrueDepth camera technology. It’s a slick piece of software that is straight forward and more practical than fingerprint technology. In terms of camera quality, the rear of the iPhone X has two 12MP cameras which are both equipped with OIS (optical image stabilisation). Its front-facing camera measures at 7MP, making your selfies crystal clear and flattering.

The iPhone 8 Plus is still an incredibly popular choice, especially now that iOS 13 is compatible with this model. Its glass back allows for fast, wireless charging.
One of the best features of the iPhone 8 Plus is its introduction of Portrait Lighting - it brings professional level lighting effects to your device and lets you set up lighting around your portrait without the expensive set up of real lights. You can add studio lighting during your photo taking or after in your camera roll.

With Qi wireless, an A11 Bionic chip and fast-charging capabilities, the iPhone 8 shook things up when it was first released and is still a popular go-to phone to this day.
Whilst it’s visibly similar to the 7 and 6S, its all glass design gives it a premium feel and it has a substantially faster processing speed compared to its predecessors. It also boasts a 25% boost in volume and sound quality, coupled with a deeper bass sound. It also allows the user to be fully immersed in sound when watching a video thanks to the forward facing speakers.

Powered with an A10 Fusion chip, it’s been said to be 40% faster than the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The glass on the front of the phone and the rear case offers a more streamlined and seamless design compared to the models before it.
You’ll notice that the home button isn’t a button per se, but rather a Force Touch home button that feeds back a Taptic vibration when you push down on it. The screen resolution is far superior than the iPhone 7, measuring at 401 ppi and have a Retina HD LED screen allowing for wider colour gamut.
Both the 7 Plus and 7 come in rose gold, gold, silver, jet black and high gloss black - with the latter needing a phone case to protect it due to the higher risk of scratches.

The iPhone 7 broke the internet when customers found out there was no headphone jack, meaning you had to buy an adaptor in order to plug in your existing headphones. Just like the iPhone 7 Plus, the home button uses Force Touch to feed back taptic engine vibration when you push down on it. This is a great feature as it means you’re less likely to cause water damage. Speaking of water damage...
It’s IP67 rating means the iPhone 7 can withstand up to 1m of water for up to 30 minutes, meaning you won’t need to worry too much about accidentally dropping it in a puddle. Though the screen size is exactly the same as the iPhone 6S, it does display up to 25% brighter than its predecessor and has a wide colour gamut.
Take great photos with a 12-megapixel sensor and brighter f/1.8 aperture that lets in up to 50% more light than its predecessor models.

Dubbed as the most powerful 4-inch phone to exist, the iPhone SE contains so many fantastic features that you simply wouldn’t expect in a phone so small.
The all-powerful A9 chip allows for superior processing speed to power multiple apps at once, and can even capture 4k video! It’s a fantastic choice if you’re after something small, compact yet powerful for everyday heavy use.
The iPhone SE also supports Live Photos which look incredibly sharp thanks to its iSight 12-megapixel camera. It also supports Touch ID not purely for unlocking your phone, but to pay for items with Apple Pay - simply hold your phone near the reader and use the Touch ID sensor to make quick payments!

The performance of an iPhone 6S is still considered amazing to this day. The introduction of Live Photos and the all new 3D Touch made Apple users extremely pleased during its release.
3D Touch can be activated to let certain apps perform extra features. The iPhone 6S introduced “Peak” and “Pop” which is extremely useful for reading previews of messages from your home screen as opposed to tapping on the notification. Its Taptic Engine is also fantastic as it delivers tiny “blips” to alert you of notifications, which can be instantly recognisable by their vibration pattern.
These features, whilst extremely useful, do become taxing on battery life. Whilst it’s only a sly difference, it’s worth taking into account.

Regarded as one of the best “S”-type phones out there due to its significant software and hardware upgrades, avid Apple users can enjoy Live Photos and 3D Touch with the iPhone 6S Plus.

Carrying all of the same specs as the iPhone 6 - this handset is thinner with a much larger screen (measuring in at 5.5-inches) and sports a Retina HD display for fantastic image quality. It’s another phone that commonly referred to as a “phablet” due to its size.
The large top and bottom bezels might not be best for those with smaller hands. Its design is identical to the iPhone 6, but the larger chassis means fitting it in small pockets can be quite challenging. Despite this, it’s a fantastic budget device for those after a large phone screen and feel. It merges the glass and aluminium back together for a truly seamless design.
Apple no longer produces the iPhone 6 Plus, so getting your hands on a new one is near to impossible. Why not buy a refurbished iPhone 6 Plus and save on your new device?

The iPhone 6 truly feels great to hold thanks to its smoother rounded edges and is the perfect size for those with slightly smaller hands. With a display of 4.7-inches, and a Retina HD screen, it’s fantastic for its dinky size.
It comes with a Touch ID fingerprint scanner, NFC payment and up to 128GB and when you marry that up with the fact it’s such a small phone, you’ll begin to see it as a real power-house. It’s predominantly built with glass and metal which still provides a premium feel for such a small device, and if you like the sound of a seamless join between your screen and bezel, then the 6 is a real treat to hold.
One thing to note is the iPhone 6 is not water or dust resistant compared to its successors, so whilst it’s a highly affordable option, you’ll need to take extra care not to get it damaged.
