The most talked about TV character is Euphoria’s Rue. Not only did the HBO character get the most fans talking in the last year, she also bagged the top prize for the most loved TV character.

Taking second place is Klaus from Umbrella Academy. Known for his quick wit and no-nonsense talking, it’s no surprise to see him in a top spot.

In third is Villanelle from the BBC drama Killing Eve and the fictional character from Luke Jennings’s novel Codename Villanelle. First hitting our screens in 2018, this Russian assassin is talked about for her fashion sense as much as she is for her ruthless persona.

We researched the most popular TV characters from some of 2020's biggest TV shows, before using customised Brandwatch queries to measure the amount of conversation around each one. We then built separate social listening queries around four key categories to measure the respective conversation around each character. Some characters / TV shows were removed from the study due to the accuracy of the query. Data taken from Dec 2019 to Jan 2021.
