Worked in wool and cotton yarns, and some more adventurous mediums, such as leather thonging and wire, the projects use just a few basic knitting stitches, which are explained in detail at the start of the book. Ruth Herring is a well-established knitting and crochet designer, having started designing collections for top high street stores and later taking on commissions for TV and film celebrities. She is the author of two knitting books (Knitting Masterpieces and Knitting Wildlife) and has made frequent appearances as a craft expert on daytime TV. She has lectured at leading fashion colleges in the UK and is currently running knitting and crochet courses at South Thames College in London. She lives in London.
