Apartment block-based Beverly Hills 90210 spinoff series deals with coming-of-age, ambition, backstabbing, greed and lies. Set in an apartment block in the West Hollywood district of Los Angeles, Melrose Place starts off a tame tale of fairly average 20-something Joes living in a funky apartment block in Hollywood. We follow their fledgling careers, their first live-in relationships, and their troubles. Then the show's ratings were tallied and writers decided it was time to bring on the sleaze. The ethically-challenged Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) buys the building, moves in and goes through the whole goody-two-shoes block like a dose of salts, breaking hearts, treading on toes and stealing opportunities.
