Suspense-filled Western starring Randolph Scott. Forced to take the stagecoach after losing his horse in a bet, Pat Brennan (Scott), along with newlyweds Doretta and Willard Mims (Maureen O'Sullivan and John Hubbard), find themselves held hostage by a trio of ruthless outlaws led by Frank Usher (Richard Boone). After learning from the cowardly Willard that Doretta is the daughter of the richest man in the state, Usher sends him to demand a ransom. As they wait for the money to be paid, Brennan, realising that both his and Doretta's lives hang in the balance, tries to turn the outlaws against themselves in one last, desperate bid for freedom.
