Richard Platt has been writing books for children since 1983, completing nearly 100 published titles. Most books are illustrated information books for children, but Richards has also written children's stories, and several books for adults. Some titles have won awards: including a Smarties silver prize, and a Blue Peter award. Three other books reached the Royal Society science prize shortlist. Incredible Cross Sections (Dorling Kindersley), was selected by The Guardian as one of three greatest children's books of the 1990s. This is Richard's first book for Carlton.
