Peter Finch and Faye Dunaway star in this drama directed by Sidney Lumet. When veteran news anchor Howard Beale (Finch) learns that he only has two more weeks on air due to declining ratings, he announces this to his viewers and adds that he is going to commit suicide during his last live broadcast. His subsequent rants and angry outbursts cause his ratings to spike and ambitious programming chief Diana Christensen (Dunaway) seeks to exploit this by giving Beale his own show. However, when others seek to use Beale for their own gain, the network executives make a shocking decision about his future. The cast also includes William Holden, Robert Duvall, Ned Beatty and Beatrice Straight.
