Description

Housemarque calls its frenetic, acrobatic style of shoot-'em-up combat bullet ballet, but if you watch it in action for a minute or two it quickly reveals itself as something else: bullet hell for the world of third-person shooters. In this standalone high action shooter you play as Arjun Devraj, a tormented Soltari soldier haunted by loss, with a very personal tie to the shape shifting planet Carcosa. This place is grimdark to the core, but it also has a certain dark beauty. Most importantly, however, it's regularly subjected to Eclipses, which change the world around you and make everything immediately more hardcore. The enemies of this world unleash wave after wave of energy orbs, sometimes sheets of them that are borderline impossible to dodge. You don't always have to, though - you have a bubble shield that can protect you and, more importantly, absorb attacks and let you send them right back. That means that, in some cases you might actually want to be fighting under Eclipse conditions to effectively increase your own firepower. Nowhere is this more likely than the absolutely epic boss battles. These showstoppers are absolute blitzkriegs of kinetic action that will leave your heart pounding and your palms sweaty. Housemarque has, in other words, produced another generation-defining action game.
