Anthony Quinn, James Coburn and Deborah Baxter star in Alexander Mackendrick's adaptation of the 1929 pirate adventure novel by Richard Hughes. When a couple in the West Indies in the 1870s decide to ship their children back to England to attend boarding school, the ship comes under attack from pirates and the children accidentally end up aboard the enemy vessel. On board the pirate ship, their mischievous childish games cause all kinds of problems and misunderstandings, eventually driving the superstitious crew to the brink of mutiny.
