Description

A four-volume set of children's fantasy adventures. In 'The Grinch' (2000) Jim Carrey is a grouchy green monster who lives high up on a mountain overlooking the town of Whoville. The Grinch hates happiness, hates merriment, and most of all, hates Christmas. So one year, as the festive season approaches, he decides that enough is enough and draws up plans to steal all the decorations and all the presents from the poor, unsuspecting citizens below. Does this mean the Whos won't be celebrating this year? Not if little Cindy Lou (Taylor Momsen) has anything to do with it. In the live-action version of 'Peter Pan' (2003) the Darling children, Wendy (Rachel Hurd-Wood), John (Harry Newell), and Michael (Freddie Popplewell), follow Peter Pan (Jeremy Sumpter) to Neverland - a world where anything is possible. Once there, they meet Tinker Bell (Ludivine Sagnier), the Lost Boys, and the dastardly Captain Hook (Jason Isaacs) and his pirate crew. In 'Nanny McPhee' (2005) Cedric Brown (Colin Firth) has recently lost his wife and is faced with the prospect of trying to raise his seven unruly children on his own. With the wild children too much for most nannies, all of whom have quickly left his service, Cedric is one day commanded by a mysterious voice to hire the witch-like Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson), who uses her magical powers to keep the children in line. Finally, in the sequel, 'Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang' (2010), Nanny McPhee offers her invaluable services to harried young mother Mrs Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is struggling to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. Utilising her dazzling repertoire of magical props and unconventional methods, Nanny McPhee teaches the Green children and their spoiled city cousins five life lessons they will never forget.
