Set in Dublin in the 1960s, this is the story of a bus conductor who entertains his passengers with a mixture of poetry, prose and excerpts from Oscar Wilde. He decides to put on the play 'Salome' at the local church, but after finding his leading lady he faces oppostion from the local butcher, his own sister and other locals, all of which condemn the play.
