Description

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a soulslike action game that trades the typical medieval fantasy setting for an intriguing mix of gunpowder and gods. Arguably its biggest innovation in the crowded genre, however, is its reputation system. The setup: the Door to the Great Below has been opened, unleashing gods and the armies of the dead on your world - the city of Dawn is about to fall and the land of Kian is besieged. You play as Nor Vanek, an elite member of the Coalition set on ending the magical threat. Split from your party, you meet a fox god going by the name of Enki and soon enough find yourself in a team-up. This is a fast game, and melee, gunpowder and magic interweave for rapid fire combat that builds your reputation, which in turn can be banked then traded in for progress on the skilltree. But! If you hang on to it without banking it, you can build multipliers for even greater rewards. But! Take just a single hit and you're back to zero. This risk/reward balance is tense stuff, adding an interesting new element to the soulslike formula.
