Description

Box-set containing three popular action movies. In 'Rocky' (1976), club fighter Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) has hit rock bottom. Having turned thirty, his boxing career is virtually over and he now makes a living collecting payments for a loan shark. Things start to look up when he begins dating Adrian (Talia Shire), sister of his friend Paulie (Burt Young). However, when world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) decides to take on a 'nobody' in his title fight, Rocky finds himself chosen. Encouraged by his coach, Mickey (Burgess Meredith), he begins training for the big fight - much to Adrian's disapproval. In 'Road House' (1989), philosophy student Dalton (Patrick Swayze) is hired as a bouncer to clean up the rowdy road house 'Double Deuce'. Being a man of ideas, he at first tries to solve problems without resorting to violence, his formidable reputation doing much of the work for him. However, he has not reckoned on the perverse will of the local crimelord (Ben Gazzara), a man with ideas of his own, and despite Dalton's best intentions, much fist-fighting ensues. Finally in 'Blown Away' (1994), insane terrorist Ryan Gaerity (Tommy Lee Jones) causes a number of explosions in Boston, but continually evades the clutches of the city's elite bomb squad, led by Jimmy Dove (Jeff Bridges). Dove gradually realises that the attacks are motivated by his own past confrontations with the terrorist, and a deadly game of cat-and-mouse develops between the two old rivals.
