And forasmuche as their Lordships doubted how the said Protectour would employ the power he had levyed, their Lordships wrate to certain of the noble men and gentlemen to repayre to London with summe force wherwith to represse (if nede were) the Protectour's attemptates. Moreover their Lordships consydering that the Protectour had gyven order that the Tower shuld be kept in sorte as none of his Majestes Counsail nor none other might enter into the same, which was an argument that he would have the same holly at his owne devotion, dyd send for the Lieutenant, requyring him to suffer certain others to enter for the good keping therof to his Majestes use, wherunto the Lieutenaunt accordyng, Sir Edmund Peckham, knight, and Leonard Chamberlain, esquier, with their servauntes, were commaunded to enter into the Tower as assotiates to the same Lieutenant for the better presidy and gard of the same.
