Emma Roberts, John Cusack and Evan Peters star in this Syracuse-set comedy directed by Scott Coffey. Freshly-graduated young poet Amy (Roberts) lives off her parents while trying to secure a career as a full-time bard. When her parents finally tell her they can no longer support her, she is forced to get a job at a nearby sex shop where she meets fellow clerk and love interest Alex (Peters). While she continues to receive rejection letters from numerous literary magazines, she hunts down local poet Rat Billings (Cusack), who has enjoyed much success through his own work. Amy thinks that with Rat's guidance and much sought after criticism she can finally become a celebrated writer, but is she being blinded by her own naivety?
