All but Alice - Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Alice discovers that the key to surviving year 8 is fitting in - getting her ears pierced like everyone else, dressing like everyone else, and joining the same clubs as everyone else. Suddenly Alice finds herself one of the 'in' crowd. But the trouble is that some stuff the 'in' crowd like to do seems either silly or just plain boring. When one of her best friends, Elizabeth is excluded and loyal old boyfriend Patrick is singled out for humiliation by her popular new friends, Alice has to reconsider some of her decisions. Can Alice be herself and still be a part of the 'in' crowd?
